Garmin

Garmin is a global leader in GPS navigation tools for the auto, aviation, marine, outdoor and sports markets. Its experience with GPS in other, larger sectors has proven valuable for making cycling products.

Garmin was founded in 1989 by Gary Burrell and Min Kao (Gar + Min = Garmin). Today, Garmin’s main production facility is in Taiwan, and its global headquarters is in Olathe, Kansas, in the United States.

In 2006, Garmin bought Dynastream, a Canadian technology company that invented the ANT+ wireless protocol that is used today in many cycling products like power meters and cadence monitors - which feed data into Garmin cycling computers.
