Game changer… or having a Lauf?

Designed for cross-country and marathon racing, Lauf’s distinctive TR29 fork uses leaf springs rather than traditional dampening to offer 60mm of travel for loose-surface buzz removal.

Constructed from carbon fibre with glass fibre leaf springs, the TR29s come in at 990g – around 500g less than most regular cross country suspension forks – and are available only for 29in wheels.

There’s no adjustment on the fork itself – Lauf says 60mm of travel means it’s unnecessary – but the TR29s come in two flavours, one for riders over 65kg, one for riders under 70kg.

In this video, What Mountain Bike technical editor Tom Marvin gives his thoughts on this unique Icelandic design.
