Genesis has announced a rebooted version of its adventure gravel bike, the Fugio.

Previously, the Fugio was available as either an aluminium or a steel gravel bike, but the new bike will only be available with an updated 6061 aluminium frame.

Elsewhere, the Fugio remains similar to its predecessor, according to Genesis.

The new Fugio will be available in three models, with prices ranging from £1,299.99 to £1,999.99.

Bye-bye steel and hello custom paint

Genesis says the Fugio’s new aluminium frame is paired with a high-quality carbon fork.

The British brand says the aluminium gravel bike is now lighter and stiffer than its predecessor with a “noticeably nimbler front end”.

Genesis says despite all the bikes in the Fugio range coming in under £2,000, this doesn’t mean they can’t look good.

To this end, Genesis says it has chosen internal cable routing for a clean look, while every frame is covered in specs of paint applied by hand so each Fugio will have a unique finish.

‘A huge variety of cycling’

Sam Lawson, Genesis Bikes’ product manager, says the brand has focused hard on the specifications of each Fugio model.

This is “to offer as much bang for your buck as possible whilst creating a range of bikes that are perfect for a huge variety of cycling”.

The three Fugio bikes all feature Vittoria Mezcal 2.1x27.5in mountain bike tyres to help the bikes tackle off-road riding.

Genesis says the Fugio can be fitted with 650b or 700c wheels, either increasing the tyre clearance for rough terrain or helping create a smooth, fast ride on tarmac.

The claimed tyre clearance is 52mm with 650b wheels or 40mm with 700c wheels.

The bike is dotted with mounts across the fork and frame, opening the door to using the Fugio as a bikepacking bike.

All models feature a 1x drivetrain. The Fugio 20 and 30 come with a SRAM Apex groupset, while the lower-spec Fugio 10 has a Microshift XLE-10 groupset.

The use of a Microshift groupset potentially proves the theory that we will see more low-end bikes featuring Microshift in the coming years.
