Budnitz, the American boutique fabricator of high-end city bikes, has a new 24-inch-wheel version of its Model No.4.
Paul Budnitz designed this No.4 for city living, with small 24-inch wheels spec'ed for better tight-space navigation not only when riding but when lugging it up stairwells or into elevators. Paul Budnitz is the founder of Kidrobot.
The No.4 is designed for compact riding - and living
The No.4 has disc brakes, a belt drive, curved down and seat tubes, plus internal cable routing.
As with all Budnitz bikes, this one can be built up with a customer's choice of parts. For instance, you can ask for fatty Schwalbe Big Apple 2.15in tires or relatively narrower Kojak 35c slicks, a singlespeed or an internal Shimano Alfine 11-speed.
Handmade Budnitz titanium riser handlebar, stem, seatpost, seatpost clamp and badges come standard, as a Chris King head and Paul Components brake levers.
The handbuilt bike is priced at US$3,900 (£2,450), and includes a stolen bike replacement policy that, when used in conjunction with homeowner's or renter's insurance, should result in a replacement bike at no cost, should you ever need it.
