One of the UK's most unique cyclosportives is back for 2013. The Wiggle Wight Ferry Sportive, now in its third year, offers riders the opportunity to circumnavigate the Isle of Wight. Routes of 101 and 74 miles are on offer.

The event commences at Brockenhurst College, within the picturesque New Forest National Park, Hampshire. Both the 74-mile and 101-mile rides will be taking place on Saturday 6 July and Sunday 7 July, giving participants a choice of date.

As the name suggests, the Wight Ferry ride includes the two boat crossings required to cross the Solent. Once on the island, riders look set to enjoy a clockwise circumnavigation of the landscape, with quiet and carefully chosen roads.

Before departing from Yarmouth, riders can enjoy the scenery while the timers are stopped and ice cream is served. Having returned to the mainland, they'll then complete the final leg of the sportive through the flatter New Forest. Back at Brockenhurst College, finishers will cross the finishing line and be greeted with massages, food, showers and a medal.

Entry costs £39, and kids ride for free. Visit UK Cycling Events for more information. There's also a chance for Isle of Wight residents to complete the island part of the ride over the same weekend – see the Wiggle All Wight Sportive page for more information on this.
