The multipoint attachment keeps the Stingray mudguards fitted securely

Pros:

Straightforward, rock-solid fitting; effective

Cons:

Would benefit from having flaps added

These Stingray mudguards, with lime green highlights, are constructed from aluminium encapsulated within highly durable plastic. They’re 47mm wide and suitable for 700c tyres with 28-38mm widths.

Comprehensive fittings are supplied for all styles of stay, bridge and dropouts. The fitting process requires a 4mm Allen key, a screwdriver, a spanner and some bolt cutters or a hacksaw to shorten the mudguards’ stays if necessary. From start to finish, the job takes around an hour.

‘Secu Clips’ hold the front mudguards’ steel stays to the fork legs, and are designed to allow the stays to break away if any obstruction gets caught between the mudguard and the front wheel. The mudguards themselves are robust and remain securely anchored thanks to a three-point attachment at the front and four-point configuration at the rear. There’s no rattling, and only limited movement, even when you’re riding on cobblestones.

The Stingrays' width looks generous when used with tyres at the narrow end of their recommended range, but there’s an aesthetic sweetspot with 35–38mm tyres. If fitted suitably close to the tyres, spray protection is very good. That said, I’d like to see flaps at the ends of the front and rear mudguards so that my feet and any following riders can stay drier for longer.

SKS has long been the benchmark for high-quality, long-lasting mudguards, and the Stingray pairing is ideal for keeping wintry filth off of your all-road or winter rig.
