Craft Performance Light gilet review£40.00

Lightweight windproof

BikeRadar score4/5

This is the ultimate lightweight if you’re looking for a compact windproof that you can always carry with you.

It packs down small and neat into its own back pocket. A drawstring secures the pouch and it’s no bigger than a couple of gels to tuck into the back of a jersey.

You only know you’re wearing this because the wind chill has completely vanished. It’s shower resistant too, though heavier rain soon gets through.

The fit is good, if a little long in the front for racier riding positions. The payoff for the light weight is some rustle in the wind at speed and flapping around the shoulders, but for occasional use this is great.

Simon has been cycling for as long as he can remember, and more seriously since his time at university in the Dark Ages (the 1980s). This has taken in time trialling, duathlon and triathlon and he has toured extensively in Asia and Australasia, including riding solo 2900km from Cairns to Melbourne. He now mainly rides as a long-distance commuter and leisure/fitness rider. He has been testing bikes and working for Cycling Plus in various capacities for nearly 20 years.
