Good looks, function and low price make this a trail essential

Mixing considered function with a value pricetag, the Laser gilet hails from Scottish brand Endura so it should cope with rapidly changing weather conditions.

Features are just what you need and no more: there are no pockets to increase pack size or bulky double linings, but details like a full zip baffle to keep out rain and drafts, and a double hem drawcord to refine the fit are very much appreciated.

The fabric won’t resist a full downpour but will shrug off showers and windblown mist, while the mesh back makes for excellent breathability under packs.

Reflective details do stretch right around the upper body but we’d rather see them lower down where they’re more visible in a full-on go-faster position.

We’re also not sure how useful a rear light loop is on a lightweight top but we can live with an apparent lack of substance when the Laser’s look, feel and function are all so good.
