Our review
A warm and comfortable feature-laden jacket that can be worn on or off the bike

The stealthy Breakaway jacket from Fox is great for freezing mornings, dank drizzly days or a post-ride pint. The robust, polyester/Spandex elastine construction will shrug off scuffs and scrapes yet still allows for unrestricted movement. The bulk does mean that the Breakaway won’t pack down quite as small as some softshells when you take it off though.

Stick it on over a baselayer and it’ll keep you nice and warm on the grimmest of days thanks to the Polar fleece lining which is ridiculously comfortable. If it's damp out, the Breakaway will help keep moisture at bay and the tight, fleecy cuffs do a great job of keeping the elements out. We'd like to see some more adjustment around the hem though.

There are two fleece-lined pockets which are big enough for all the essentials, along with two chest pockets, all of which have zipper closures. The fitted cut gives good coverage all round but there is some riding up and bunching when seated on the bike – not a major niggle when you consider the reasonable price. Off the bike, the plain black colour and minimalist logo are both subtle and stylish, and we’d have no issues wearing this one down the pub.
