Mavic Flash waterproof jacket review£107.99

One for the night riders

BikeRadar score3.5/5

This light-ish weight, close-fitting jacket proved to be fully waterproof thanks to the neatly applied internal seam taping, with the elasticated hem, Velcro cuffs and high collar also doing a good job of keeping moisture out.

The Flash isn’t made from the most breathable material, the inner surface having a slightly rubbery feel that can get a little clammy, though the large mesh rear pocket doubles as a vent for when things get hot. What the Flash is most striking for is its near blindness-inducing brightness: its reflectives exceed European safety standards. One for the night riders.

Simon has been cycling for as long as he can remember, and more seriously since his time at university in the Dark Ages (the 1980s). This has taken in time trialling, duathlon and triathlon and he has toured extensively in Asia and Australasia, including riding solo 2900km from Cairns to Melbourne. He now mainly rides as a long-distance commuter and leisure/fitness rider. He has been testing bikes and working for Cycling Plus in various capacities for nearly 20 years.
