Race Face Aquanot waterproof jacket review£139.00

Stylish fully featured jacket

BikeRadar score2.5/5

Look beyond the funky pattern and you’ll find a fully featured jacket. Made from Race Face’s own Storm Lite 2.5-layer fabric with taped seams, the Aquanot isn't as waterproof as some on paper, but works fine in practice.

Described as having a 'tailored cross-country fit', it’s more North American than Italian in sizing, if you catch our drift. It also stows into its own pocket, although the resulting package is considerably bulkier than other stowable jackets we've reviewed lately. That’s largely on account of all the zips, vents and adjusters that you’ll find.

The Aquanot has underarm vents like Race Face’s Tempest, and they’re similarly awkward to use – a pity, since we found we needed them earlier than with some jackets. Also like the Tempest, the Lycra inner cuffs could do with a slightly bigger thumb hole and a bit more fabric so that they don’t pull the sleeves so awkwardly.

If you’re a music fan, you’ll appreciate the windowed inside pocket with headphone port, and the cable clip at the collar. Overall, it's big on style and an adequate performer, but perhaps not the best value for money.
