The splined ISIS standard for cranks and bottom brackets (BBs) didn’t last long before external bearing cranks appeared. The BBs themselves generally didn’t last long either.

The drilled, machined and heat-treated chromoly axle is a tight squeeze to fit but super-secure once set up. Eight independent seals keep the crap out and the same unit will fit either 68mm or 73mm shells.
