Dia-Compe BRS200 review

Single pivot brakes such as these have been largely replaced by the more powerful dual pivot designs but their weight saving - around 130g per pair - will attract the lighter rider who will place less emphasis on sheer stopping power.

Cost-effective weight saving for light rides

Single pivot brakes such as these have been largely replaced by the more powerful dual pivot designs but their weight saving - around 130g per pair - will attract the lighter rider who will place less emphasis on sheer stopping power.

They can, of course, also be recommended for time trialling where the brakes are used sparingly. The reach adjustment is from between 39mm and 51mm and they have a built-in cable quick release. We remember testing these brakes previously and the inclusion of cartridge brake blocks has resulted in an improvement but they fall short of the stopping power that is available with the dual pivot brakes on test.
