Gusset Open Prison 3in Rise bar review£22.99

You know these steel bars are tough when they come with a 'No Bull' two-year warranty.

BikeRadar score3.5/5

You know these steel bars are tough when they come with a 'No Bull' two-year warranty. Despite their strength they're not crazy heavy. The shim system runs in either 22.2mm BMX or 25.4mm MTB stems, which can be an arse to install symmetrically at first but we had no problems once they were in. Two-inch rise and white or black versions are also available.

When it comes to the stem, Gusset aren't big on subtlety. Even the external machined panels on this block of CNC alloy are simple squares. It's got a solid feel though, with M6 bolts all round for maximum strength and a dropped 'chin' to get the bars as low as possible. Pre-greased bolts are a nice touch, the threads are super smooth and it comes in black or white finish. While it's a direct fit with 22.2mm BMX bars you'll want the standard Git for MTB bars.
