The first round of the Chain Reaction Cycles MTB Marathon Series 2010 powered by the Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport took place over the weekend.

Almost 300 riders took to the trails for the Exposure Lights Big Night Out night marathon which kicked off the action on Saturday night. Conditions were dry and fast on a specifically designed 45km course on the hills surrounding Builth Wells, with Jonathan Pugh crossing the line after 1hr 41min.

More than 1,000 riders lined up the next day for the main event which offered three courses of differing length. Due to the high calibre field and the super conditions on course, the 68km (approx) ‘middle marathon’ was completed in just over three hours by first-man-home Rob Lake, with the last rider crossing the line to pick up their well deserved event T-shirt after 7hr 24min.
