Freeride contest in the snow

Denis Katinas

The fifth White Style freeride competition takes place in Leogang, Austria on 29 January 2010, and the world’s biggest winter slopestyle comp is set to be a blast.

British dirt jump star Grant ‘Chopper’ Fielder is designing the course, and some of the world’s best riders have already signed up including the Lacondeguy brothers, Brandon Semenuk, Amir Kabbani, Lance McDermott and Cam McCaul.

Qualifying takes place in the afternoon and then 10 finalists will complete two runs of the course to determine the winner. They’ll all be gunning to win the €4,000 prize pot.

Chopper says he’s going to improve on what was already a popular course in 2009: “I'll stick to a similar finish with the step-up step-down part leading towards some big-ass jumps. But there will be some changes nearer the top to improve this section that was pretty challenging due to the soft snow last time. I’m hoping to get a snow igloo in there somewhere too!”
