For 2011, Fixie Inc brings a host of improvements to every one of their models. Updates include a patented QuickRelease Mudguard System on the Peacemaker, the 68-wheel concept for the Backspin and a wholly revised Pure Blood cyclo-cross machine. In addition, the once steel-only manufacturer adds a titanium bike to the line called the Chiprace 325.

Chiprace 325

Described as Betty Leeds‘ big brother, the Chiprace 325 brings a new frame material to Fixie Inc’s line for 2011: seamless double-butted 3/2.5 titanium. The frame saves a healthy 200g when compared to the previous steel version. The frame is completely new but designed on the Betty Leeds geometry and style. Titanium DropShape seatstays and the new head tube designs are shared between the two, but the tube dimensions and shape are adapted to best highlight titanium’s properties.

  • Superlight Weenie dropouts with replaceable gear hanger
  • Exclusively available as framekit for 2011 (frame & fork)

Pure Blood

The Pure Blood was equipped for the UCI’s disc brake rule change last year, but nevertheless it’s completely revised for 2011. The frame has been redesigned to include Fixie Inc’s filigree Weenie dropouts, which first appeared on the Betty Leeds. The direct post mount disc brake fitting (DiPS) situates the rear brake calliper between the seat and chainstays to allow for lighter seatstays and cleaner lines. Cable routing follows the downtube with completely sealed runs of housing. Instead of using braze-on mounts for brake cables, they are routed through the chainstays and fork leg for an even cleaner look. The new DiscO fork is designed to mirror the wishbone seatstays.

The Pure Blood will be available as a complete bike in 2011 with a new colour and ’cross proven SRAM Force components.

Peacemaker

The Peacemaker is one of the world’s only production made Gates Carbondrive belt-driven fixed-gear singlespeeds, although it also comes equipped with a freewheel on its flip-flop hub. Following the huge success of their 2010 belt drivetrain version, Fixie Inc increased the choice of gear ratios to include 20- and 22-tooth cogs for 2011.

The Peacemaker proves innovative with introduction of a new, patented QuickRelease Mudguard System, which allows fenders to be fitted and removed in one step. A new colour accompanies these 2011 improvements.

Backspin

New visual highlights such as translucent pedals, saddle and grips combined with pedal clips and a low-rise handlebar define the new BMX/Fixed crossover trend. Fixie Inc claims the Backspin isn’t solely about exterior looks: the new 68-wheel-concept combines compact 26in wheel sizes in the smallest frames XS, S and M which feature new proportional frame geometry. This eliminates toe overlap when cornering. Fixie Inc claims it as the perfect solution for ladies and smaller gentlemen. Frame sizes L, XL and XXL are fitted with the normal 28in (700c) wheel size. The new ShuRi rear hub introduces a new design where the fixed rear cog is attached using a 6-bolt design similar to a disc brake. No special tools are needed other than a hex wrench and destroyed rear sprocket threads and bloody knuckles will be a thing of the past.

Black Jack

Following the complete overhaul of the Black Jack last year, Fixie’s vintage machine is further refined for 2011. A new seagull bar improves cockpit ergonomics and is complemented with custom brake levers. The stainless steel bottom bracket shell now features a mirror polished to prevent dropped chains from damaging the frame finish. The new Marshal-hubset offers a tribute to the Campagnolo C-Record originals of the late 1970’s. The blend of high gloss and matt black graphics with mirror-polished stainless steel set the tone for this top-end singlespeed’s handcrafted appeal.

Betty Leeds

The 2011 Betty Leeds sports subtle refinements, including a new finish and changes to the frame. The new teardrop formed seatstays are said to offer more vertical flex and higher lateral rigidity, while new cable stops and head tube reaffirm the bike’s purpose: Betty Leeds is a club racer that strives to define modern steel frame building.
