POC Sports, supplier of protective gravity sports equipment and apparel, announce the 2012 POC Eastern States Cup (ESC) downhill mountain bike race series.

POC have signed on as the title sponsor of the ESC, which will host two USA Cycling USAC Pro Gravity Tour National Series races this season.

The series will add three new venues in: New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts. And they boast a US$28,000 cash purse to amateurs and pros at 14 races. The POC ESC will partner with VonCooper Racing and Productions bringing back the POC Video of the week for racers and fans to watch series highlights on YouTube and Facebook.

“POC is psyched to be the title sponsor of the East Coast’s most prominent downhill MTB race series,” said Willie Ford, POC USA’s director of marketing and promotions. “The Eastern States Cup is held in our backyard and helping promote and evolve the sport here on the East Coast is an important goal for us every year.”

The POC Eastern State Cup Series was established in 2010 to provide gravity racers the opportunity to race closer to home, making the series more affordable as well as promoting the variety of terrain at some of the East Coasts’ long-standing lift served mountains.

“POC has stepped up the last two years, and helped push the ESC series out to the masses,” said George Ulmer from the Eastern States Cup. “The series is growing and helping the East Coast get the recognition it deserves in the cycling world. We are stoked to have POC on board with us again.”
