The 2015 yellow jersey has been designed to celebrate the 40th Tour de France finish on the Champs-Élysées as well as commemorating the 1975 winner’s maillot jaune.
The new jersey has a “unique collar and a silhouette with a filigree design of the Arc de Triomphe”. There’s also the traditional flocked Le Coq Sportif logo and the initials of Tour founder Henri Desgrange.
The jersey is cut in a close-to-the-body anatomical shape for maximum aerodynamic peformance, and the sleeves are completely seamless. There are two rear vents – a smaller triangular section at the back of the neck as well as a full back vent made of micro-aerated mesh. The front of the jersey has a mid-length zip for extra ventilation.
Le Coq Sportif CEO, Frank Heissat, said: “The 1975 jersey was the prime inspiration for the 2015 Yellow Jersey. The details taken from Bernard Thévenet’s jersey – a Mandarin collar and a visible zipper – show how well we combine sporting performance and natural elegance. For the 40th anniversary race, we wanted to use an iconic design that incorporated two symbols of the Tour de France: the maillot jaune and the Arc de Triomphe.
