A fresh blend of fat tyres, race geometry and aerodynamic detailing

3T certainly managed to raise a few eyebrows earlier this year with its release of the Exploro adventure bike. Not many would've predicted to see a complete bicycle come from the Italian component firm, which joined forces with German brand THM back in June.

Rather than opt for the long, low and slack formula of many competitors, 3T chose to stick with more traditional road bike geometry for its carbon frame. 3T also opted to spec this bike with 650B wheels and disc brakes, allowing vast clearances for up to 2.1in tyres.

What really sets the bike aside, though, is its unique attention to aerodynamics. Profiles of the frame and fork have been optimised around a rider travelling at 20mph, a figure that 3T felt represented real life speeds while travelling off-road. The result is a bike that 3T claims is more aerodynamic than a regular, round-tube frame adventure bike with 28mm tyres.

In the video above, Dave from 3T talks us through what makes it a bike worth knowing about.
