The second Paddy Pallin Adventure Race of 2009/10 takes place near the Australian capital Canberra next month – the exact location is being kept under wraps so no-one can get any sneaky practice in.

The event on Saturday 28 November will include a corporate challenge plus events for schoolchildren and novices, as well as the usual Classic Course.

You can enter online at www.arocsport.com.au. Early bird entries close on 13 November and a late fee applies for entries until 24 November.

This season's first event in Wyong drew 580 competitors for a mixture of running, swimming, kayaking, orienteering and mountain biking.

Richard Mountstephens, Hugh Stodart and Peter Preston from team Dude Where Is My Apex? came out on top on the Classic Course, completing all seven legs in 3hr 42min, including a bonus run around event headquarters. The corporate category was won by team GHD 2 (Gavin Rayward, Steven Todkill and Matthew Parsons), who also came third overall.

AddVenture 1 (Matt Yearsley, Amanda Brown and Jefferson Taylor) won the mixed event, and came 10th overall. The first women home were Pete Likes M&Ms (Mary Fien, Melissa Thomas and Rosalind Elliot) in 4hr 20min. For complete results, reports and photos, visit www.arocsport.com.au.
