German supermarket chain Aldi's great value cycling kit is popular with many of our forum members so we were interested to see the latest product to hit shop shelves in the UK – this sports video camera.

Priced at £49.99, the Oregon ATC2K Action Cam records full-colour digital video in 640 x 480 resolution at 30 frames per second, and Aldi say it can be mounted easily on helmets and handlebars.

It's said to be waterproof up to three metres, and other features include a 32MB internal memory and built-in card reader that can take a 2GB SD card (not included), plus PC and TV playback. It's available now in stores nationwide.

There are cheaper helmet cams on eBay, but they're not weatherproof and we've been less than impressed by the quality of the footage when riding off-road, especially in low light. The Aldi camera is still a lot cheaper than most of the mainstream offerings, so it'll be interesting to see how it performs. Have you bought one? Let us know what it's like in the comments box below.
