Lance Armstrong continued his 'Twittical Mass' efforts in Los Angeles this morning, sharing saddle time with nearly 1,000 riders in Griffith Park after similar rides in Glasgow, Scotland and Dublin, Ireland last month.
The nearly 38-year-old bike racing and cancer surviving icon is making the rounds this week, with his next stop in Montreal. Armstrong is promoting his Livestrong efforts, and has been known to take bike rides to ward off jet lag.
Armstrong's critical mass shout-out is simple. The Texan sends out a Twitter message to his nearly 2 million followers, and folks show up.
From September 9: "Hey LA - get out of your cars and get on your bikes. Time to ride. 7:30 tomorrow am. Griffith Park, LA Zoo parking lot. See you there.."
After the ride, the Mellow Johnny's-clad Armstrong sent a final Twitter message: "Great ride in Griffith Park. Thanks, LA! And thanks to the LAPD for the help. Off to Montreal..."
Armstrong finished third in the 2009 Tour de France after retiring in July 2005, following a record seven straight victories. He announced the formation of Team RadioShack for 2010, and won the recent Leadville 100.
