Jamis Bicycles have dropped off the UK cycling radar since they sponsored Team MBUK in the late '90s. Now the US company are back, with a promising-looking line-up of road and off-road machines.

The bikes, which will be available exclusively via Evans Cycles from mid-December, include the Durango 3 aluminium hardtail with 30-speed SRAM X7 groupset, RockShox Tora fork and Hayes Stroker Ryde Comp for £729.99.

On the road side of things, there's the carbon fibre Xenith Pro with SRAM Force and Mavic Ksyrium Equipe wheels for £2,249.99, or at the other end of the scale, the Reynolds 520 steel framed Bosanova tourer with carbon/alloy fork, Shimano Tiagra and Avid BB5 mechanical disc brakes for £749.99.

Mark Aspromonte, director of international sales at Jamis, said: “Jamis are very excited to have Evans, one of the top IBD [independent bicycle dealer] chains in the world, represent our bicycles in the UK. We're confident that our approach to building excellent bikes – no gimmicks, no gadgets, no nonsense, no compromise – combined with the professionalism and strength of Evans will be a formula for success in the UK cycling market."

The company began life in 1937 as distributors of imported European bicycles and parts. They began making bikes in the 1970s, when they had major success with their beach cruiser models. They introduced their first mountain bikes in 1983 and their debut road machines in 1988.

“Jamis are a very strong and welcome addition to our exclusive bike brand portfolio," said Evans Cycles MD Mike Rice. "With reliable and consistent distribution via our unique UK framework and an enviable depth and breadth of models on offer, we very much look forward to enjoying the same success the brand has experienced in other countries.”
