US-based cycling bag makers Mission Workshop are branching out with the launch of their first international store and a new SPD-compatible casual shoe.

Set up last year by a team that includes the founders of urban cycling brand Chrome, the company are opening a new outlet at the Old Truman Brewery, off Brick Lane in London, on Thursday (12 August).

To celebrate, they're holding the sort of party more commonly seen back home in San Francisco's bohemian Mission District. Expect a margarita bar, California beer and backyard barbecue.

There'll also be a chance to check out Mission Workshop's range, including their Vandal and Rambler expandable backpacks, messenger bags and new Rondel trainer (US: sneaker).

“We felt the time was right to set up shop in London”, said co-founder Bart Kyzak. “Over the past 15 years we've been fortunate to be part of a larger network of cycling enthusiasts from around the world. London is known for having a thriving bike community with passionate riders, we love being part of the scene, it was a natural transition for us and it felt right.”

Mission Workshop are sharing their new London premises with hand-made bike builders 14 Bike Co. The launch party takes place from 7.30-10pm on Thursday. The company have also launched a European website, www.missionworkshop.com/europe.
