Swiss four-cross and BMX racer Roger Rinderknecht will be riding on homegrown BMC bikes in 2010, and he's aiming to develop the "ultimate 4X weapon".
Rinderknecht, who was dropped by GT in November after four years on their team, is aiming for World Cup 4X podiums and, ultimately, BMX success at the 2012 Olympics.
“I've been training a lot after breaking my upper arm in August last year and I'm back at 100 percent of my former riding performance," he said. "The new partnership with BMC is a big plus of motivation during these grey winter days. The development of the ultimate 4X weapon is in full progress and I can’t wait for the season to begin!”
Rinderknecht will continue to be supported by his long-term partners Oakley, iXS, SR Suntour, DT Swiss, Onza and Crankbrothers, plus new components sponsor Syncros.
Mike Hürlimann, BMC's chief executive officer, said the company had strong roots in mountain biking, even though they're best known for their road bikes.
"Our Fourstroke, Trailfox, Speedfox and Supertrail models have already been receiving great test results in the worldwide media, but the input from Roger, who is a well experienced racer and freerider, will be very useful for us to keep on progressing in R&D," he said. "We're really looking forward to an exciting and valuable partnership.”
