Biketoberfest 2009 coming October 10 in Fairfax, California

Sixth celebration of bicycling includes expo, beer tasting and rides

Marin County, California's sixth Biketoberfest features a bike expo, vintage bike show in Fairfax, California on October 10, with proceeds benefiting the Marin County Bicycle Coalition (MCBC) and Access4Bikes.

According to event organiser Tom Boss, 3,000 people attended the event in 2008. Highlights of the 2009 expo include Rivendell Bicycle Works, WTB, Swobo, Steelman, RetroTec, Sycip and Soulcraft, with beer tasting from 20 different beers from 18 different Northern California Brewers, live music featuring Honeydust, Sons of the Pacific and Philip Der Stein Quintet , plus group road and mountain bike rides and a Poker Run to benefit the Drake High School NorCal racing team.

The fee for beer tasting is US$20 ($25 day of event) and includes a commemorative Biketoberfest 8oz. glass. Proceeds benefit bicycle advocacy in Marin County.

Biketoberfest is free for everyone, and runs 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the FairAnselm Plaza parking lots located at 765 Center Blvd. (next to Iron Springs Pub and Java Hut), downtown Fairfax.
