The Black Mountains 3 Day mountain biking event will return for a second year in 2012, organisers Bearded Man have announced.

It will once again return to the Brecon Beacons National Park from 29 June to 1 July for another long weekend of endurance riding across rock gardens, moorland, forest tracks and singletrack.

The event will open on the Friday evening with a 13km time trial lap of the Glanusk Estate. Saturday will be the first real test for competitors and will see them tackle 70km across the remote Black Mountains. With 2,300m of vertical ascent, riders will need their climbing legs before feasting on some singletrack towards the end. You won’t be given much time to recover though, with a 68km course the following day featuring 1,800m of climbing.

Weekend entry, which includes all riding, accommodation (in the form a tent) and food is £180. You can also bring along a friend along for support for £70, which includes everything bar the riding. It’s a fully serviced event and includes breakfast, dinners, fully stocked feed stations, a goody bag and prizes from event sponsors, plus access to masseurs and bike servicing.

Entry is now open at the event website, where full course maps and profiles can be found too.
