Boardman Bikes are poised to launch a new top of the range triathlon and time trial bike – the Boardman Elite Series AiR/TTE.

Boardman say the bike has been in development for three years. The British bike design company has released a video of defending Ironman World Champion Pete Jacobs testing a prototype ahead of the bike's official unveiling on 9 October in Hawaii.

The bike's details are being kept under wraps for the time being. From what we can tell from the teaser video, the frame and fork look quite similar to the current Air/TT 9 series models, although no doubt there will be tweaks here and there. The big change could be at the front end though, with what look to be integrated handlebars. The current models use a more standard stem/bar setup.

Boardman co-founder and R&D director, Chris Boardman, said: "It’s taken over 36 months of hard work, expert design, testing, refining, and re-testing to deliver this high performance TT machine, the result of which has been designed for out-and-out, super-fast performance - for TT’s and triathlon."

The AiR/TTE is the latest bike to emerge from Boardman's research and development unit dubbed B56 – a reference to Chris Boardman's successful quest to ride more than 56km and break the hour record in 1996.
