Boardman Bikes have entered the sub-£500 price range with three brand new models.

Catering for entry level road, mountain bike and commuter riders, the bikes will form part of Boardman's Performance Series range.

The Boardman Road Sport (£499) features a 7005 aluminium frame with a combination of Shimano, SRAM, FSA and Tektro components and Mavic CXP-22N rims built on Formula 32 hole hubs. Gearing consists of a compact 50/34T chainset combined with a 12-26T rear cassette.

The Boardman MX Race (£499.99) is a hardtail mountain bike also built on a 7005 aluminium frame. Its front suspension comes via a SunTour NEX HLO fork with 63mm of travel as well as a lockout option. An FSA Dyna Drive 48/36/26T triple chainset combines with a nine speed SRAM PG950 11-32T cassette for a wide choice of 27 gears. Avid BB5 disc brakes provide stopping power while Schwalbe Tyrago 700c x 37c tyres keep you rolling.

Finally the Boardman Hybrid Race, priced at £429.99, is aimed at leisure and commuter cyclists. It's also built on an aluminium frame and features a 2x9 Shimano Acera drivetrain and Avid V-brakes.

The new bikes are available for pre-order now from www.halfords.com for collection on 12 December. They'll also be able in 200 Halfords stores in the UK.
