Boardman has announced two limited edition road bikes targeted at early Christmas shoppers. The Road Team Carbon and Road Sport limited edition models will retail for £999.99 and £499.99 respectively.

For a penny under a grand the limited edition Road Team Carbon swaps out the Shimano Tiagra/105 mix found on the regular Road Team in favour of SRAM's Apex transmission. The full carbon frame and fork remain unchanged bar a lick of special edition white paint. You'll still get Mavic's CXP22 wheels but they'll now be shod with 23mm Vittoria Zaffiro rubber rather than the Ultra Sport II Continentals found on the regular model. It'll be available exclusively in stores and online from tomorrow.

Boardman's entry-level road bike. the Road Sport, also gets a limited edition makeover. You get the same 7005 alloy frame but Boardman has squeezed a full carbon fork on where the regular bike normally has an alloy part. The drivetrain also takes a step up from Shimano's dated looking 2300 parts to a much more current 16 speed Shimano Claris set-up.

The rest of the build remains the same, so you still get the Mavic CXP22 as found on the Team Carbon. The Road Sport limited edition looks set to be available in black or white and both options will feature exclusive yellow components. Not so fast with this one though, it isn't expected to be in stock with Halfords until December.

This isn't the first time Boardman has created such machines, back in 2013 the firm was offering very similar limited edition bikes.
