Boardman to sell women-specific range

'fi' bikes include road, mountain and commuting models

Boardman are to introduce a range of women-specific fi (female informed) bikes which include a carbon road model, 100mm travel hardtail mountain bike and a flat bar commuter.

Available from Halfords in May 2010, the Boardman fi frames use women's specific geometry and use “cutting edge materials and components [to give] you a bike which feels natural to ride, is comfortable and offers excellent performance at every level,” according to Chris Boardman MBE.

Without further ado, let’s have closer look at each bike:

Boardman fi road carbon: - Boardman

Costing £999.99, the Boardman fi Road Team Carbon model uses a carbon frame and fork, SRAM Rival 20 speed shifting, Tektro R580 brakes, Ritchey Pro rims, Ritchey seatpost and stem and Continental Ultrasport tyres.

Boardman fi aluminium road bike: - Boardman

The Road Comp bike uses a double-butted aluminium frame with carbon fork, a mix of Shimano Tiagra and Shimano 105 for shifting, Truvativ Elita compact chainset and Tektro R570 brakes. Ritchey finishing kit adds the final touches for a bike that will set you back an attractive-looking £699.99.

Boardman fi mountain bike: - Boardman

Boardman's fi MTB Comp hardtail mountain bike has a double butted aluminium frame, RockShox Recon SL Air, 100mm travel forks with adjustable rebound damping and lockout, a mix of SRAM X5 and SRAM X7 for shifting with a Truvativ Firex 3.1 chainset and Avid Juicy 3 hydraulic disc brakes. Ritchey rims, seatpost, handlebar and stem are used too on this £699.99 off-road machine.

Boardman fi hybrid: - Boardman

One for the inner-city, the aluminium-framed Hybrid Comp costs £499.99 and has an aluminium fork, SRAM X5 shifting, Truvativ Touro chainset, Avid BB5 mechanical disc brakes and Maxxis Detonator tyres.
