Brandon Semenuk wins Red Bull Rampage

Freeride lunacy in Utah; Gee Atherton dislocates shoulder

Whistler native Brandon Semenuk won the Red Bull Rampage freeride comp in Utah, bagging himself the top prize of $10,000 ahead of fellow Canadians Kurt Sorge and Thomas Vanderham.


British rider Gee Atherton, one of the favourites to take home the top prize after an impressive qualifying session, didn’t make it to the finals after a crash during practice in which he dislocated his shoulder. Dan Atherton dropped out of the contest after injuring his ankles during practice.

As well as taking third place and $2,000 prize money, Thomas Vanderham won the Best Trick prize for his no-hander over the 59-foot canyon gap – which you can see in the video below:
