Legendary British saddle manufacturers Brooks have announced an all-new non-leather saddle – the C17.

As part of a new generation of saddles known as the Cambium line, the C17 will feature a fabric consisting of flexible natural rubber and organic cotton. A textile outer layer is included to aid durability, while total waterproofing is provided through vulcanisation.

Unlike most leather offerings, the C17 will not require a break-in period, and Brooks are confident that the construction methods involved will make the new model a long-lasting product.

Aesthetically, the saddle still retains many of the design elements that adorn the company's classic leather designs – it's still unmistakably a Brooks saddle. And if this one doesn't please the purists, it will certainly please the cows.

In preparation for the C17's official launch on 17 June, Brooks are calling for 100 riders worldwide to trial the saddle. A diverse selection of cyclists are wanted, and if you want to register your interest then be sure to visit the Brooks website and sign up before 17 May.
