Suspension manufacturer Cane Creek is recalling DBinlines manufactured from May 23, 2014 through September 15, 2014. These shocks have graphics that incorrectly identify the adjustment directions for high-speed rebound (HSR) damping. Following these directions will cause unexpected behavior by a bike’s suspension, posing a hazard to the rider. The Fletcher, North Carolina-based company has received four complaints from customers, one of which involved a report of injury.
The affected DBinline shocks will contain a serial number within the following ranges.
- AA00002 – AA07304
- SA00077 – SA03926
DBinline shocks with these incorrect graphics came on the following 2015 mountain bikes.
- 2015 Alutech – Tofane
- 2015 Banshee – Phantom and Spitfire
- 2015 Bianchi – Methanol 29
- 2015 Canyon – Spectral 140 – 27.5 and 29; and Strive CF
- 2015 Ghost – AMR Riot 130
- 2015 Guerilla – Gravity Megatrail
- 2015 Ibis – Ripley 29
- 2015 Intense – Tracer, Carbine 29 and Spyder 29 Comp
- 2015 Knolly – Warden
- 2015 Nicolai – Helius
- 2015 Norco – Sight Carbon 7.1
- 2015 Nukeproof – Mega TR
- 2015 Orange – Five and Five 29
- 2015 Specialized – Enduro 650B and 29

To remedy this problem, Cane Creek is providing a repair decal kit that indicates the correct adjustment direction. Cane Creek encourages owners to obtain a repair kit as soon as possible by contacting Cane Creek at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling the company’s recall hotline at 1 (844) 490-3663 or 1 (828) 209-4480 Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5PM EST. Owners should have their serial number handy.
This recall is not related to the mechanical integrity of these suspension units. With corrected HSR graphics, these shocks will perform as intended.
