Cannondale has issued a safety warning for all model year 2016 Slate bicycles. These bicycles are equipped with wheelsets that are not designed for tubeless conversion, doing so can pose a risk to the rider.

All of Cannondale’s 2016 Slate models come stock with clinchers and inner tubes. When modified to run tubeless, (i.e. removal of the inner tube) the tyre bead may not seat properly in the rim and the tyre could come off the rim. Cannondale has received reports of this occurring in the field.

This isn’t a product recall, just a warning to Slate owners that they should not attempt to tubeless conversions to the stock wheelsets on their bikes.

Cannondale Slate owners who wish to run tubeless should contact their authorized Cannondale dealer to receive a free tubeless-compatible wheelset.
