After several seasons of working together with aerobars, the Cannondale Pro Cycling team (formerly known as Liquigas-Cannondale) will move to Vision as its exclusive wheel sponsor for the 2013 season.
Cannondale Pro Cycling will have seven models to choose from. The Metron 3 Spoke, and Metron Disc will be used for time trials; the Metron 81, TC50, and TC24 carbon tubulars should see use across a wide range of disciplines; and we expect the T42 and T30 clinchers to be ridden solely for training.
In addition, Vision representative Gloria Radaelli says Cannondale Pro Cycling will also test a variety of prototypes for the company before they're finalized for production.
"This is a very important decision for both of us," said Vision European general manager Claudio Marra. "This will bring Vision and Cannondale together to cooperate for innovative product and will offer the best performance and advantages to the team."
Cannondale Pro Cycling had previously already used Vision for aerobars so the move to add wheels seems like a natural one. Moreover, Marra says the company's personal relationships with the team manager and top riders Ivan Basso, Elia Viviani, and Peter Sagan also helped pushed the deal forward.
"The final choice from the team was made because there has been good cooperation between us for a long time," said Marra. "They have seen the proof that as we produce all the components and wheels in our company, this gives us the best and fastest flexibility for development. This possibility really gives the team a big advantage."
