Canyon UK has announced it is to be the title sponsor of MUDIIITA, the project founded by Nikki and Matt Brammeier with the goal of increasing participation with cyclocross in the UK.

The MUDIIITA project is focussed on increasing participation and developing a pathway for young riders to progress through the sport. This will involve a pro-cyclocross team, an academy, clinics and coaching programs.

Matt Brammeier explains: “Our aim is to inspire a generation and create a realistic pathway through to the top tier of the sport. We wanted to bundle all the different steps of a young rider’s journey through the ranks together, and create a safe and professional environment where riders can focus fully on development and enjoyment of the sport. With the support of Canyon we are confident that this is the perfect pathway for cyclists of the future to reach their full potential.”

Canyon are fully committed to investing in cyclocross with the aim of raising the profile of this sport and making it more accessible

Nikki Brammeier, the 2017 UCI National cyclocross champion, will be racing in the colours of the new MUDIIITA Canyon Pro Team from January 2018, and riding on the carbon Canyon Inflite CF SLX Race frames, as will her teammates. She says: "I can’t wait to get going and start racing on the Inflite, the innovate design Canyon has brought to the table with this bike is super exciting.

"Canyon’s passion and drive to progress the sport of 'cross aligns perfectly with that of the MUDIIITA project and we are looking forward to working closely together throughout various elements of the project. These shared passions and beliefs made our decision to join forces a total no brainer."

The MUDIIITA Canyon team's first race will be the Grand Prix Sven Nys on 1 January 2018, and dates for clinics and coaching sessions will be announced in the new year on the MUDIIITA website.

The Canyon Inflite cyclocross bike

Canyon launched the carbon Inflite CF SLX earlier in 2018. It features a carrying system, plenty of mud clearance and an array of other features such as a chain retention device to prevent dropping the chain when racing, all of which have been designed in careful consideration of the rigours of the discipline.

Nick Allen, Canyon UK Market Manager adds: “We are proud to be partnering with MUDIIITA in 2018 — a UK cyclocross project with the objective of increasing the exposure and participation of this increasingly popular cycling discipline. Canyon are fully committed to investing in cyclocross with the aim of raising the profile of this sport and making it more accessible. This is why working with MUDIIITA makes perfect sense.

"Not only will we be supporting the current UCI British Cyclocross Champion 2017 and MUDIIITA rider Nikki Brammeier who will be racing atop our Inflite CF SLX in 2018 but we’ll also be supporting MUDIIITA with their CX clinics and coaching sessions around the UK.”
