Canyon has released details on four new models from its 2017 range of mountain bikes. The German direct sale brand hasn’t let it all out the bag though – pricing won’t be released until these bikes are available which should be around September. Claimed weights were also unavailable.

Canyon 2017 Neuron AL 9.9 SL - canyon

Neuron AL 9.9 SL

New from Canyon is this alloy-frame Neuron 29er trail bike. With 120mm of travel front and rear it's claimed to have the "attitude to transform your favourite trails and a setup light enough for marathon racing". It sure looks good to us.

The spec highlights in this top dollar build include SRAM’s new 12-speed Eagle drivetrain, Mavic’s XA Elite wheelset, SRAM Guide R brakes and a Reverb Stealth dropper post.

Exceed CF SL 7.9 Pro Race

Released as a tease for the cross-country racers out there is this new build of the Exceed CF hardtail. Spec highlights include a Boost version of the RockShox SID, a GripShift SRAM X01 Eagle 12-speed transmission, SRAM’s latest Level brakes and a DT Swiss XR1501 Spline One wheelset.

Spectral WMN CF 9.0 EX

Thanks to a collaborative effort between Canyon and Rockshox, the new women’s version of the Spectral trail bike features a lighter, custom damper tune in its Pike RCT3 fork and Monarch XX shock. Once again SRAM’s Eagle 12 speed transmission is used along with Guide RS brakes, a Reverb Stealth dropper and a DT Swiss XM1501 Spline One wheelset. Women specific components feature at the contact points throughout

Unsurprisingly, the men’s version of the Spectral CF 9.0 l is a very similar bike. Aside from wider finishing kit from Renthal and that lighter suspension tune, there’s also different tyre setup with the gents' version making use of a High Roller II/Minion Semi-slick rather than the Minion/Ardent setup found on the women’s version.
