Chumba Racing's 140mm-travel VF2 trail bike is now available as a complete bike in the UK. At £2,250, the full build looks good value.

The spec includes a Fox 32 Float FIT RLC fork (with QR15 axle) and RP23 Boost Valve shock, SRAM X9 and Shimano XT shifting kit, Avid Elixir 5 brakes, Mavic CrossRide wheels, Maxxis Ignitor tyres and a mix of Truvativ and own-brand finishing kit.

The frame combines a hydroformed and butted aluminium front end with a carbon fibre rear triangle. A proven Horst link four bar suspension design soaks up the bumps, and the head angle is a fairly standard 68 degrees (with 140mm fork; the frame will take up to 160mm).

UK distributors Progressive Bikes describe the VF2 as "a great all-round trail machine that won't break the bank". It's also available as a frame only, for £1,099. For more details, visit www.progressivebikes.co.uk.
