The Victorian Interschool Cycling Series (VICS) is a new seven-race series of closed-road cycling events, set to run from term 4, 2014 to term 1, 2015 (October-March).

Each event will consist of a mixed ITT, TTT, and criterium racing formats; giving school aged kids the opportunity to race on a weekly basis. The dream for this program is to turn cycling into a school sport that rivals the likes football and cricket, something that arguably is in progress in parts of the United States.

Each event will be split into Junior (years 7-9) and Senior (years 10-12), and graded based on ability. Throughout the series riders will race for points, competing for an overall leaders jersey and for the best school competition.

Interested students will be required to purchase a discounted Cycling Australia licence for $60, which covers the series, as well as club or open events between October and March. After the VICS has ended, the licence can be upgraded to a full racing version for the remainder of 2015 with the initial $60 spent coming off the cost of a Gold Cycling Australia licence.

Participating schools have yet to be announced, and more information can be found on the Cycling Victoria website.
