A pair of New Zealand designers think traditional canvas saddle bags make your cool road bike look rubbish.

So the team at Cykit has redesigned the humble saddle bag into something far more sleek and stylish. It’s called the Aeroclam, and Cykit has taken to KickStarter to find funding. We think it looks pretty good.

According to a video on the crowd-funding page, two current versions of the Aeroclam (the P1 and the P2) appear to pair up particularly nicely with Specialized and Selle Italia saddle, but the team says they will work with a huge number of brands and saddles.

The designers say the injection-moulded plastic saddle pack, which opens like a clam shell, will accommodate a CO2 cannister and applicator, a spare road tube, a flat multi-tool and some levers. We reckon it might be quite a tight fit in there

It's also water tight, solid mounted so it won’t flap about, and fairly light at 109g.

The team is pursuing NZ$20,000 (£10,000 / US$17,000 / AU$18,400) to create the mould for the Aeroclam P2 and put it into production. So far it's reached NZ$1,242 with 33 days left to campaign.

Cykit aims to start shipping in mid to late June.
