A new Australian mountain bike clothing label – DHaRCO – launched at the second round of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Cairns, Australia. This Northern-Sydney Beaches (think Manly Beach) based startup looks to bring casual surf fashion to the trails with technical fabrics, features and bike-specific fit.

Mandy Davis is the person behind the DHaRCO brand and is clearly passionate about getting women into mountain biking. BikeRadar spoke with Davis in Cairns on the matter: “We have a fabulous ladies range. It may not be the best business strategy (due to smaller rider numbers) but we’re committed to giving the ladies choice of colours, choice of cut and choice of style – in a feminine but not over the top look.”

Currently the range is made up of both men’s and women’s gear aimed toward gravity, enduro and trail riders. Durable fabric is a common theme throughout the line-up and some of the shirts use a patented material called ‘drirelease’. The drirelease material claims to offer superior wicking properties that won’t wear or wash away, while also being extremely resistant to odour – meaning, Davis says, that you “won’t offend if you end up in the pub after a ride”.
