Dymag wheels have been used at the highest level in many forms of motorsport - they're even standard fit on several super cars - so when the British firm announced that it was turning its attention to bicycle wheels, we had to take a closer look.

Dymag's introduction to cycling wheels consists of several deep-section carbon models. There is a wide range of rim depths on offer (24mm, 38mm, 44mm, 50mm, 60mm and 88mm) with most sizes offered in tubular and clincher options. The rims are available to purchase as a stand-alone product for £270, apart from the 88mm versions, which retail for £337.50.

Complete wheel builds are on offer too. These start at £1,200 and use either Hope Mono RS or DT Swiss 240 hubs.

Our test sample featured Dymag's 50mm clincher rim laced to Hope's Mono RS hubs. The build also used Sapim's 'super spokes', which are the lightest steel spokes available. The claimed weight for the set is 1,625g, (735g front, 890g rear). We weighed them ourselves, and found the pair to be just 1g heavier than that.

The Union Jack decals are only a reminder of the company's heritage as these rims are made in China
