British cycling fans won’t have long to wait to satisfy their Olympic-induced cravings for elite action with the announcement of three major events.
The first of these is the traditional winter season curtain raiser, the British National Track Championships, at the Manchester velodrome from 26-30 September.
This will be swiftly followed by the second round of the track cycling World Cup at the brand new Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow from 16-18 November. It will be the first major event to be staged at the venue, built for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Tickets will go on sale through Ticketmaster to British Cycling members at 2pm this Thursday (16) before going on general sale at 12pm on 22 August.
Manchester will also host the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup from 19-20 April at the new National BMX Centre, built as part of the London 2012 Olympic legacy.
Jonny Clay, Cycle Sport and Membership Director at British Cycling, said: “The Track World Cup in Glasgow is the first opportunity for people to see the GB cycling team in international action after the Olympic Games and the event promises to be a great spectacle for cycling fans as our GB athletes prepare for the 2014 Commonwealth Games and set off on the road to Rio 2016.”
