The Montane Kielder 100 mountain bike ultra marathon is returning in 2010 after a successful first outing this year.

And entries are open now, 10 months in advance, so you have plenty of time to get in shape for this 100-mile epic.

Organisers are promising a tweaked course with a mixture of singletrack and fireroad, hot and cold feed stations, a "handsome" prize purse and extra camping.

Montane Kielder 100 organiser Sara Randle said: “This race is inspirational for many reasons and every rider has their own personal aspirations and ambitions when they tackle such an arduous event. It’s the ultimate challenge for everyday riders not just for elites, it’s something that’s achievable. It’s not easy, but the rewards are tenfold."

"It seems riders relished the chance to ride in such epic wilderness, where they hardly saw another soul and they enjoyed riding one lap as it takes away the monotony that can sometimes set in when riding marathon races based on a lap system, with the Montane Kielder 100 you never know what’s around the next corner. It truly is an adventure from the start to the finish.”

The 2010 Montane Kielder 100 takes place on 4 September. To find out more, visit www.kielder100.co.uk.
