Component company e*thirteen is steadily branching out from chainguides into more component categories. New for 2017 is the addition of a dropper seatpost and a wide-range 11-speed cassette, designed to give SRAM’s 12-speed Eagle group a run for its money.

e*thirteen is venturing into the dropper seatpost game. The TRS dropper breaks from the trend towards seatposts with infinite travel within their range, by offering the user two intermediate positions between fully extended and dropped. The TRS seatpost can be dropped to 75mm, 110mm and all the way down to 150mm.

“We didn’t want our seatpost to get lost in the cloud of marginal reliability,” said a company spokesperson. To that end, the TRS dropper is fully mechanical with a coil negative spring.

It will be offered in 31.6 and 30.9mm diameters. The TRT dropper will retail for US$279 and be available in December.

Building on the success of the TRS cassette, with it’s impressive 9-44t range, e*thirteen has a new 11-speed cassette with a range that rivals SRAM Eagle in terms of overall range.

The new TRS Race cassette has a 511% range with teeth going from 9-48t. e*thirteen reworked the sprockets in between this wider spread to improve shift performance across the wider range.
