America’s bike builders had their turn at NAHBS, and from 12-14 April 2013 UK artisans will be able to show us what they’ve got at Bespoked Bristol.

In the build-up to the show, the organisers have taken their cameras to York-based Feather Cycles, where Ricky Feather built the bikes that won the Bespoked Bristol best road bike in 2012 and best track bike the year before. Impressive given that he’s only been in the trade three and a half years.

Ricky feather, winner of two previous categories at bespoked bristol is exhibiting again in 2013

Explaining his approach to custom building, Feather, said: “Nine times out of 10 nowadays, people come to me and they want a bike because they like what they’ve seen.

“For the most part they give me a briefing of what they want and kind of let me get on with it. It’s a good way to work because the bikes develop their own style as you build them.”

This year, Feather, who learned his trade working in a factory building vehicle parts, said he plans to exhibit a couple of brushed stainless steel models and a randonneur with custom racks.
