UK-based Ragley Bikes has introduced its first handlebar, the US$57/£39.99 Ragley Carnegie, a sub 300g aluminium swept-back riser bar for the trails.
"It's designed for riders wanting an alternative hand position to a regular straight bar," said Ragley designer Brant Richards. "We find that it offers a more comfortable hand position for riders with wrist aches or problems, offers a variety of positions for long distance riding/endurance riding, and is in a width that offers a good "elbows out" position for technical riding.
"Width is 685mm tip to tip, but puts your hands effectively in the same position as my old 700mm wide bar," he added. "Geometry is 25-degree sweep with a 33mm forward wiggle to keep the controls in the right sort of place. It nominally has a 38mm rise, though this is lessened a bit when you angle the bar back and down for comfort."
According to Richards, the 7075-T6 triple butted aluminium construction has a shot-peened finish for stress relief, and was CEN tested and passed to 200,000 cycles. The handlebars are available through Ragley dealers.
And the relevancy of the handlebar's name?
"It's named after a bar we went into when we were in Taiwan earlier in the year," Richards said.
