We've just been given the heads up on Shimano’s new tubeless-compatible Dura-Ace wheels, the catchily-named WH-7850-C24-TL.

Shimano claim that the new wheels marry performance and comfort together to make for a smoother ride at an accessible price.

The wheels, which cost almost £720 per pair are built using an aluminium/carbon mixture which are apparently equal in quality and performance to all-carbon tubular wheels.

Carbon fibre layers are added to the rim’s aluminium wall, and higher concentrations of carbon are used at the high-tension spoke points to produce what Shimano say is a ‘close to all-carbon tubular performance’ at an affordable price.

They're available now in the UK from Madison and we’re looking forward to getting our hands on a pair, so watch this space for a full review.
